How to Protect Your Lips From the Summer Sun
As temperatures start to rise, there are plenty of considerations you need to make to ensure that you remain in good health. This is just as true for your oral health as for anything else.
However, even if you’re someone who thinks often about your oral health, you might have a hard time making sure that your lips stay in good condition. This is even more difficult as temperatures start to rise. If you want to protect your lips from the sun this summer, here’s some information you might find useful.
The Threat of the Summer Sun
While it can be easy to think of your lips as being entirely separate from the rest of your skin, they’re really just the same thing. That means that they’re just as susceptible to sunburn as any other part of your body, if not more so.
How to Protect Your Lips From the Sun
If you want to stop your lips from developing any kind of sunburn, you should invest in a lip balm with SPF protection. You can find these at any pharmacy, though you should take the time to find one with the highest SPF you can. Often this will be SPF 30.
Be sure to apply this lip balm liberally to your lips at least every two hours to ensure that they are as protected as possible. If you put it on along with your regular sunscreen, it should be fairly easy for you to remember.
How to Deal With a Sunburn on Your Lips
If you’re unlucky enough to wind up with a sunburn on your lips, there are a few things that you can do to make yourself more comfortable. For one, you can dip a washcloth in cool water and hold it to your lips, providing temporary relief.
You can also try making use of aloe vera lotion, applying it lightly to your lips. Finally, you should make sure you’re staying hydrated so that your lips can stay healthy and smooth all summer.
